What's been done

What's been done

Reimagined the homepage structure to clearly position FindIslands as a private-island marketplace and improve first-time user onboarding

Redesigned search and filtering and introduced decision-support UI across key flows

Updated core UI patterns and typography while keeping the existing brand colors and visual direction consistent

Context

Context

FindIslands is the first dedicated marketplace for buying, selling, and renting private islands, active since 2020. The existing website was built primarily for SEO, which led to inconsistent styling, unfocused UX, and a weak first impression—especially for a global audience unfamiliar with the niche. The redesign focused on improving clarity, navigation, and filtering, and adding missing features that help users evaluate offers and make confident decisions

Hypothesis #1

We believe that redesigning the FindIslands homepage to clearly communicate it as a marketplace will improve the UX by emphasizing the platform’s key value and uniqueness, helping users understand the product faster. This should also increase the time users spend on the site.

We believe that redesigning the FindIslands homepage to clearly communicate it as a marketplace will improve the UX by emphasizing the platform’s key value and uniqueness, helping users understand the product faster. This should also increase the time users spend on the site.

Since the homepage is the first and most important touchpoint for new visitors, it plays a critical role in capturing attention and keeping users engaged.

We believe that by optimizing the existing metrics system and adding international measurement units (square meters, hectares) to the FindIslands website, we can improve the island search process and the overall usability of the website design, creating a more comfortable experience for users from different countries around the world.

We believe that by optimizing the existing metrics system and adding international measurement units (square meters, hectares) to the FindIslands website, we can improve the island search process and the overall usability of the website design, creating a more comfortable experience for users from different countries around the world.

Currently, the filter supports only acres as a unit of measurement, which is primarily relevant to the US market. As a result, this excludes most European countries and a large portion of Asian countries.

The website footer UI design has been optimized. The ability to change the website language, currency, and measurement system settings has been added for users from different regions.

The newsletter subscription form design has also been improved

We believe that integrating an interactive map with advanced filtering options based on various parameters (price, size, climate) will improve the island search process and the overall usability of the website, as well as increase user engagement and time spent on the site.

We believe that integrating an interactive map with advanced filtering options based on various parameters (price, size, climate) will improve the island search process and the overall usability of the website, as well as increase user engagement and time spent on the site.

This assumption is based on the fact that users often do not search for islands by a specific location and instead need a visual representation of available options to support their decision-making process.

Hypothesis #4

We believe that adding more detailed information about existing and potential infrastructure directly on the island detail page, as well as improving the island card UI, will enhance the overall user experience on the website and make purchase decision-making easier for buyers.

We believe that adding more detailed information about existing and potential infrastructure directly on the island detail page, as well as improving the island card UI, will enhance the overall user experience on the website and make purchase decision-making easier for buyers.

This is based on the understanding that infrastructure is a critical factor for buyers who plan to develop an island or use it for business purposes, while a well-structured visual design helps reduce information overload for users.
